The Gallery

Since 1972, the Savageau Gallery has been a leader in the Denver and Colorado art community. Known for high quality and fair prices, Savageau is a trusted name in the sale and conservation of fine art work on paper, panel and canvas. We also consult with collectors on the appraisal, cleaning, restoration and management of their fine art collections, assisting in the forward-planning of these valuable assets. The gallery offers a rich array of fine art: Colorado historical and other early Western painters, regional contemporary artists (many of the area's now-established artists began their careers in Savageau Gallery shows), and 19th century American landscapes.

The Gallery’s Colorado & Regional Artists

We continue to represent many Colorado and Western Historical artists, including Mina Conant, Angelo di Benedetto, David Spivak, Paul K. Smith, John Edward Thompson, Ethel Magafan, Frank Mechau, Elisabeth Spalding, Charles Bunnell, Marvin Smith, Roland Detre, Richard Tallant, Nadine Drummond, Alfred Wands and many more. In addition to Conant, Spalding, Magafan and Drummond, we have a rich assortment of works by other women artists who were active in early Colorado.

We also feature work by these fine contemporary Denver and Colorado artists:
Edwin Friedman (Denver),
Reba Lee (Walsenburg), Leon Loughridge, Ed McCarthy (Pueblo), Gayle Nichols, Sean O’Meallie (Colorado Springs), Tom Sarmo, Judith Scott, Harold Shuler and David Sorg, along with other visiting artists.

Stephen Savageau

Stephen Savageau is an authority on Colorado Historical Art and artists. He has often lectured on the renowned collection of Western Art in the Denver Public Library, where he also served for years as a Commissioner on the library’s Board. He has also lectured on art history and art investment at many other institutions, including the Denver Art Museum, the Foothills Art Center and the Colorado Springs Fine Art Center. Mr. Savageau frequently serves as the conservator and/or liquidator of artist- and collector estates, entrusted with the responsibility of carrying out their wishes and protecting the interests of heirs and descendants.
